Assessment
It is my hope that through the integration of blogging in my classroom students will transform to having a deeper understanding of vocabulary and will apply that understanding when reflecting on their artwork. In order to assess this transformation, I will use a rubric assess student reflections. The questions below will be part of the assessment and I will use a scale from 1-5 to assess these question. A score of "5" would mean "exemplary", a score and a score of "1" would mean "needs improvement."
As stated I plan to implement blogging throughout the quarter after each project. I know would know if my integration of technology is successful if the average of student scores per project increased with each project. This would indicate to me that the blogging practice for critique and reflection I have implemented is helping my students gain a deeper understanding of the vocabulary and they are able to apply it across contexts.
- Did the student use the vocabulary to discuss how the work was created? (process)
- Did the student use the vocabulary to give a detailed description of the appearance of their work?
- Did the student apply the vocabulary correctly (used the correct term) when describing their artwork and the process they used to create it?
- It is clear that the student took time to think about their work when reflecting?
- Did the student look past surface observations and use the vocabulary thoughtfully to talk about their artwork?
